HOUSE OF ENGLAND An International Cottage

The HOUSE OF ENGLAND welcomes everyone regardless of heritage, promotes goodwill and cultural understanding among all people, fosters social activities and appreciation of English heritage, presents the history, arts and notable persons of England to the public, supports educational initiatives, and extends friendship to all, members and guests alike.

We host our cottage and offer guests tea every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Come by for a ‘cuppa’! If you love the House of England as much as we do, you may wish to become a member and host the cottage yourself! If so, please contact us.

The House of England is one of the International Cottages of Balboa Park, also known as the Houses of Pacific Relations (HPR). HPR is a collection of small ‘houses’ representing 31 cultures (see map). Most of the cottages are historic, built for the 1935 Exposition. The nine newer ones opened in 2022. Both new and historic cottages offer visitors a window to their culture, history and traditions.

House Hours: The House of England is open between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, closed some holidays.

Lawn Programs: At 2:00 p.m. on selected Saturday and Sunday afternoons cottages take turns hosting programs that include selections of food, music, dance, costumes, arts and crafts representing their culture.
